Ivan Heredia

He was born in Bucaramanga, Colombia, on September 10, 1974. From an early age, he faced the challenge of attention deficit, finding refuge in painting to relate and concentrate. In his early years, his forays into abstract art, combined with reading, provided him with pleasure and focus.

Encouraged by his parents, his love for reading led him to become obsessed with poetry during his adolescence, prompting him to start writing. He continued his education at the University of Los Andes in Bogotá, studying Administration with an emphasis on literature. He won the National Poetry Prize at the University of Los Andes in 1994.

Subsequently, he specialized in Strategic Marketing at the Autonomous University of Bucaramanga. Although writing was his refuge for a while, he did not find happiness in it, so he returned to his passion for drawing, which became his new source of joy. As he describes in his writings, immersing himself in a beautiful and joyful dimension is like being a god.

Reclaiming lost time, he focused on experimenting and observing his preferred references, such as artists Gerhard Richter, Albert Oehlen, Francis Bacon, Francisco De Goya, Pacho Picasso, and Adrian Ghenie, who have been fundamental in his artistic development. His early works were political, attempting to answer questions like "how to paint oblivion?" and "how to paint absence?", always seeking answers in his illustrations.
